WHO WE ARE

Background

PDRA established in the year of 2010 as a non-governmental and non-profit organization in Galkacyo which is the administrative capital of Mudug region of Puntland state of Somalia.


We support and encourage development in the areas of education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, environment protection and human rights, Public Development and Rehabilitation Association (PDRA) came into existence. PDRA aimed at backing the weaker section of the society.

We give the impression of being hooked and improve the educational programs, we are looking forward to establish Youth Resource Center with Computers, TV, DVD set and different books, those materials will help our target group of women and youth for awareness including health care, seek advice from HIV AIDS.

Since the establishment of PDRA, the organization is struggling its way to build a secured society through better education, health care and public awareness. PDRA was formed by a group of professional youth scholars, currently there are 17 active members serving PDRA.


The members of PDRA include men and women from different skill sets. The members include medical professionals, engineers, social workers, teachers, Librarians, farmers, and other professionals.

Vision

PDRA foresees a society with peace and harmony. The activities of PDRA will be oriented towards this condition somewhere for women and children to get equal rights and opportunities to have access of Health and Education.

Mission

The mission statement of (PDRA) is to help women and children of the society to live in peace and sustainable livelihood.  PDRA also gives emphasis on the development of nation by backing the primary needs of the country like Health improvement, education, environmental protection and human rights protection, through capacity building, programming & proper limited resources management and utilization.

Objectives 

  • Advocate women rights for health services, education, environmental protection, employment and decision-making.

  • To raise awareness and mobilize against GBV and FGM and community segregation.

  • Establishment of educational resources centers and to attract more women candidates to develop their health and education skills and information technologies.

  • Establishing communities within the community in rural areas and building infrastructure of learning centers throughout communities within the region.

  • Establishing facilities for the people with disabilities such as the mute, the blind, the handicapped and the mentally disabled people.

  • Provide free mobile clinic and Medicine to poor people, IDPs, disabled people, and minorities.

  • Our goal is to reach a wider range of minority Somalians living in IDPs across Somalia and provide them with monthly provisions.

Boards of Directors

PDRA general assembly have selected a Board of Directors (BOD) of 7 members, as the organizational policy makers and setting the direction the NGO to achieve its objectives, annual yearly master plan in accordance with the Vision and the Mission of the NGO, the Board of Directors The term in Office will determine the NGO bylaws, normally the Board meets quarterly and at any time needed for the extraordinary.

Fund raising

PDRA is mainly depending upon the locally mobilized resources and the contributions from its members and Somalis (Diaspora) living abroad. The fact is that the funds raised by the organization are not sufficient enough to meet the existing requirements. There are many projects that PDRA is planning to implement but the lack of resources pull the plans out of implementation.

PDRA started providing families with basic necessities in 2014 with 50 families, now PDRA provides basic necessities to 100 families across the region. Our mission is to hit a target of 5000 families by 2022, with the support of companies and donors across the world.
